Job Summary:

The primary duty of this position is to conduct UA's on clients and complete the chain of custody and all accompanying documentation. Works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team in a recovery focused environment to reduce harmful effects of substance use and increase overall wellbeing of patient's life and the communities in which they reside.  Collaborates with the entire team to ensure culturally specific needs are offered and tailored to each patient's needs in the OTP environment. Must be willing to incorporate courier duties into daily tasks to support the onsite labs being conducted within the OTP.                                                                                                           

Essential Functions:

  • Conduct urinalysis testing on all OTP clients
  • Complete chain of custody on all urinalysis tests
  • Responsible for proper handling and packaging of collected samples
  • General office work
  • Interacts with client population and refers clients to services as needed
  • Monitors urinalysis process for client diversion
  • Documents accurately and timely all
  • Responsible for urinalysis supply inventory for the lab and coordinate with Lead RN for ordering

Education, Experience, and Licenses:          

  • High school diploma or GED
  • If a recovering chemically dependent person must be in a program of recovery and able to provide documentation of sobriety for a minimum of two years. 
  • Experience working in recovery environment preferred
  • Ability to demonstrate boundaries and concise clear communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact with co-workers and clients.

Driving Requirements:

  • This position may require driving.

Qualifications, Registrations, and Certifications:

  • Proven ability to work independently and interpret policies and procedures, under pressure with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
  • Ability to work with all levels of individuals, including disgruntled people in an effective manner.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of computer software such as Word, Excel, and related programs.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment (i.e. copier, fax machine, personal computer).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills oral and written.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality in all matters.
  • Requires strong commitment to accurately completing task, solving problems, demonstrating initiative, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to speak before an audience effectively; compile written reports; read and interpret various documents; and obtain the cooperation of Tribal programs.
  • Proven ability to work independently and interpret policies and procedures, under pressure with little or no supervision required.
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to Native American culture required.

Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Continually requires the ability to express or receive detailed information or important instructions through oral communication.
  • Continually requires working with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm. Requires repetitive movement of wrists, hands and/or fingers.  Often requires walking or moving about to accomplish tasks.
  • Requires standing and/or sitting for sustained periods of time, raising objects from a lower to a higher position and/or moving objects horizontally.
  • Occasionally requires lifting of up to 40 pounds.
  • Due to the nature of the interactions with other employees and the public we serve, employees may be required to provide documentation of, or receive, certain health vaccinations.
  • This position is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions which provide protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes, and is occasionally subject to outside environmental conditions.
  • Supports a safe work environment by performing all duties in accordance with Tribal safety policies and procedures, and Emergency Management Plan. 
  • May be called upon to serve as a Disaster Reservist during Emergencies.
  • Local travel is occasionally required. Travel outside of the state is infrequently required.
